Travelling to Snowboard
Snowboarding has become more and more popular with people of all ages throughout the world, it is a sport that involves sliding down a slope which is either fully covered with snow or has some remnants of snow left on it. Snowboarding is very similar to skateboarding, some of the same moves which are done on a skateboard can also be performed on a snowboard. Snowboarding first came to light in the United States during the 1960’s and 1970’s, but it wasn’t until the late 1980’s that teenagers decided that it was ‘cooler’ than skiing, and by the latter end of the 1990’s it was a recognised Olympic Sport which was in the Winter Olympics for the first time in 1998.
There are many destinations which are known as good snowboarding territory, and see thousands of tourists flock to the slopes each year to enjoy good snowboarding action.
Mayrhofen is situated in Austria and is popular with a large number of freestylers and freeriders, it is a popular place with British holiday makers. As well as good snowboarding action it is a place which is full of beautiful landscapes.

Switzerland is a favourite with not just snowboarders but skiers too, as it was one of the first places in Europe to open its doors to skiers and snowboarders, the Swiss have a good foresight and have offered the snowboarders exactly what they want, attracting tourists from afar each year. There is also a good combination of old and new accommodation, so you can get a good deal on a holiday if you shop around.
Laax in Switzerland is a brilliant place to Snowboarding it is highly regarded as a friendly place for Snowboarders with great Snowboards to hang out. The staff in this resort have much experience and are always on hand to offer advice (should it be needed). It is also visited by some of the worlds best professional snowboarders, and is also popular with celebrities too, you can often find a pop star or a DJ on the slopes in Laax.
France is also a popular place for snowboarder and Les Deux Alpes is one of Frances biggest resorts, it is also a snowboard friendly place to be. The terrain’s are rider friendly and are testing for the more adventurous snowboarder, this resort offers an outstanding terrain park. The slopes are great for both beginners and for the more advanced snowboarder, the pistes are wide and quite bland.
Tignes and Val d’lsere in France are possibly best known snowboarding and skiing places known in France. The slopes are great for the professional and the more adventurous. At the end of a busy snowboarding day you can unwind in one of the resorts many bars and restaurants, and if you wish move on to the nightclub after. Val d’lsere is known for its nightlife as well as its ski and is popular with tourists all year round.
Lake Tahoe in America is also well known for its snowboarding clientele, and offers a family friendly atmosphere as well as services for the beginner and intermediate snowboarder.
St Anton is Austria has everything to offer, it is family friendly and welcomes with open arms beginners as well as the professional, it is known amongst experts as the worlds best ski area and has a great nightlife on offer for the young single.
At all of the ski resorts mentioned there are onsite ski and snowboarding shops where you can buy and array of merchandise such as Burton Snowboards, many of the ski resorts offer a good discount, and depending on your location the merchandise could even be free of duty.
