Travelling by plane would be the fastest, and you could catch a plane from either London, Gatwick, London Luton, London Stanstead, London Heathrow or London City Airport. There are many planes which depart, and there is a choice of where you could travel to in Germany, possibly the nearest airport to Naumburg is Hamburg. The added advantage of travelling from London is the tourist attractions in London which could be visited first. You could visit the Houses of Parliament which is home to Big Ben, or take a trip of the London Eye, there is St. Paul’s Cathedral where lady Diana wed Prince Charles and not forgetting the Queen’s home Buckingham Palace.

If you caught the plane to Hamburg, you would expect to fly over the Netherlands and Amsterdam before ending your journey in Hamburg. Hamburg is situated in Northern Germany on the Elbe River and is a major city. There are around 1,740,000 people who reside in Hamburg which is also the second largest city in Germany.

There is plenty to do in Hamburg so an overnight stay might be a good idea as part of your trip, so you can take in all that Hamburg has on offer. There are lots of bars and restaurants to visit as well as tourist hot spots.

To travel from Hamburg to the final destination of Naumburg you could take either the train or travel by car.

If you were travelling to a Youth Hotel in Naumburg by train then you can do this one of two ways, the first is to travel on an ordinary train on a day time schedule, and have a stop off along the way. The other way is to take the train that travels through the night, and has beds which allow you to sleep on the train, by the time you wake in the morning you will by at your chosen destination. Either way the trains are comfortable and offer a bistro service.

The train from London St Pancreas travels to Cologne, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin as well as other destinations in Germany. If you can’t get a direct train through to Naumburg, you can change at one of the above mentioned stops.

The last option would mean getting a ferry, so unless there is a ferry which allows cars on from London it would mean getting the ferry from Harwich in Essex. You could book an overnight stay on the ferry, where there are many bars and restaurants and entertainment which is put on to entertain, then you can relax in your bedroom accommodation which depending on the price you pay is usually very comfortable. It also means you are sleeping through most of your journey to the Youth Hostel (Jugendgästehaus, Jugendherberge) of your choice, which is a good way of passing the time.

Once you get off the ferry then you are free to explore Germany as you wish, you can stop at the destinations that you choose on your way to Naumburg. Naumburg is a town which is full of tradition, it over looks the valleys and has beautiful landscapes. It is well known for its Gothic style Cathedral and its market square. It has an old tramcar system which still runs through the town. There are many Youth Hotels (jugendhotel) and Youth Hostel’s (Jugendgästehaus, Jugendherberge) to choose from and it is a popular destination with tourists.
